QU EMS is hosting a Mass Casualty Drill on the Mount Carmel Campus on April 20th, 2024.
The training program will be hosted at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register using the link above. The registration deadline is April 12th, 2024.
Event Description
The goal of this drill is to simulate a mass casualty event occurring on Quinnipiac’s campus and test the ability for our internal responders to effectively plan and work with outside agencies on the forward movement of patients. This year’s drill will focus on the “on scene” component to patient care, beginning with the first arriving crew and running through the simulated transfer of patients to definitive care. Featuring a morning didactic session (with medical or leadership tracks), as well as two afternoon evolutions of a hands-on MCI drill, this event will provide education for EMS providers, as well as identify strains on our local 911 system.
There are opportunities for those of all certification levels to get involved and participate. EMS providers are encouraged to attend the medical or leadership sessions, and participate in the afternooon drill. EMT students are encouraged to participate in the morning medical session, as well as observe the MCI drill. We are also looking for volunteers to act as patients & bystanders for the drill. These individuals could attend parts of the education sessions, but would be working with our education team to get moulaged (fake injuries and makeup) and understand their patient role.
For providers, this event will count up to 7 hours of CME credit (CT OEMS approved). For current Quinnipiac students, this event will count for IPE hours.
Continental breakfast, lunch, and light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Registration can be completed by hitting the “Register Here” button at the top of this webpage.
